Simple Photography with the 5D: Gospodor Monument

Gosporod Monument, WA

Gosporod Monument. Canon 5D + 17-40mm

I have passed this strange monument many times on the way from Seattle to Portland. This time I could not resist stopping.

Each time I passed I marveled at the weirdness of this place alongside the highway. To me it looked like a new-age-chakra, pyramid power center, crystalline green, weirdo monument to the Aztec Calender. Or maybe a state project gone awry.

It’s actually about this.

    Hey Kirk,

I was wondering if you would be interested in joining a photography project some of us bloggers have going. We basically pick a day, and all take 13 pictures. 1 per hour, on the hour, starting at 8am through 8pm (your local time zone). The idea is to take a creative set of photos that let’s other see what a day in your part of the world would look like. You can find more details here: http://www.12hoursinphotos.blogspot.com. If you are interested, please let me know and I can make you an author of the blog so we can post. We are doing the next one (this will be the 3rd) on Friday December 12th. I would love to have someone with your talent and amazing photos contribute. The idea came from FGG’s 24hrs project: http://www.fixedgeargallery.com/contest/2008-24hrs/

    Cheers,
