Adventure in India: Back to Mumbai and then home…

It is with some sadness that I return to Seattle.

Don’t get me wrong, I think Seattle is one of the best places to live in the whole world.

It’s just that I will miss the feeling of exploring a new place and learning something new each day.

After Pondicherry we came back to Mumbai for a few days before returning to the states. The girls went shopping, and I, being unable to walk, talk and breathe without recording my surroundings with either a camera or video camera, hired my friend and fixer, Suresh Solomon for an entire day of picture taking.

It was an easy decision. Suresh knows everyone, can get anywhere, and knows the history of of Mumbai inside and out.

So, with my last post before returning home, I leave you with just a few of my favorite pictures from that 5 hours of ‘Suresh Time.’

Don’t miss the super secret street story at the end: ‘The Earwax Bandit Strikes Again’

(If you are ever in Mumbai and need a great guide/fixer please contact me and I will put you in touch with Suresh)

For the record, the video about the ear wax bandit was shot several minutes after the incident. It was so shocking! We had to calm down a bit in order to even talk about it. That needle was HUGE! And, my Kirk cringes when I threaten him with a simple wet willie. This was very traumatic. Poor K!

It was quite shocking to turn around and see a stranger holding a 4 inch silver needle with your own earwax on the end.

So not cool. Not cool at all!

    :)

Your photos are incredible! For some reason they almost made me cry…I don’t know…maybe it’s because tonight is a full moon :)

    Hi Olga!

Thanks for stopping by here, I hope to see you commenting here in the future!

Thanks for the compliments. It is a high honor to actually have a photo of mine strike an emotional chord in someone. I think that emotional response is the highest achievement in storytelling and ultimately the most difficult thing to accomplish.

Thanks also for being a fan of Robin’s foodie blog. It certainly is a labor of love :)

    Take care,
    Kirk

the earwax assault happened to one of my friends when we were in India…that kind of thing will get one jailed for assault here! but India, as you know, is its own weird world. and I want to know what the other weird occurrence was, way to leave your fans hanging!

your photos are amazing. earlier today, I was telling a friend about your photo of the woman wading into the sea in Chennai…I am sending her a link to it. that photo is so incredible
